Stone Mill is located in downtown Historic Lanesboro, a fascinating village in the scenic Bluff Country of southeastern Minnesota. The inn is just one block from a 70-mile paved bike trail and the Root River. A variety of museums and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Site are all within a 30-minute drive. Travel to Lanesboro is easy, with access via interstate 90 & 35 and U.S. Highways 52 & 16. Highway 16 is designated as a National Scenic Byway.
This 1885 stone building was constructed using limestone quarried f rom the area's surrounding bluffs. The building's history includes cold storage, egg and poultry processing, and feed storage. In October of 1999, the Lamon-Mortimer family began restoration and preservation of the building's history and structure with intentions to provide a comfortable, elegant, and unique lodging experience for Lanesboro's guests.
Stone Mill Suites has ten themed suites and guest bedrooms reflecting local history and the building's undeniable charm. The original clay ceilings, lofty wood ceilings, and pipe stair railings accent the decor. The inn offers relaxing and modern amenities including iron claw fireplaces, whirlpool/jacuzzi tubs, microwaves, refridgerators, and televisions. Several rooms have lofts and seperate sitting areas. A delicious continental breakfast is served daily.
